Research Insights from the UNC School of Ed’s undergrad scholars & mentors
This event will feature a panel of recent UNC School of Education undergraduates — from the Human and Organizational Leadership Development (HOLD) and Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) programs — discussing their undergraduate research experiences and the value of those experiences to their post-graduate success.
This is an in-person event. CLE credit is available for students.
The HOLD program prepares graduates to understand, lead, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders across and within organizations. The curriculum provides students with a grounding in the science of leadership development, organizational and leadership theory, quantitative and qualitative social science research methods, and data-informed decision making. Students will gain insight into various organizations, including school districts, businesses, non-profits, and government agencies committed to cultivating clients’ and workers’ capacities. HOLD graduates will be skilled collaborators and communicators, keen observers of social structure and dynamics, and careful data consumers and analysts.
HDFS is a pre-professional major for undergraduate students who feel driven to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities. Students will gain a deep understanding of diverse contexts and relationships that influence human growth and development across the life-span. We are committed to promoting diversity in all its forms and providing students and faculty with opportunities to develop and practice ethical and culturally inclusive practices, research, and service. Through HDFS, you can graduate with a unique set of skills and experiences that will make you a highly sought-after candidate for graduate and licensure programs and careers. We offer you opportunities to explore outside of the classroom through internships, undergraduate research, study abroad, service learning, and the many other opportunities available to you at Carolina.
