Nathan leads a team of highly motivated research development specialists, enhancing UNC Chapel Hill’s ability to secure extra-mural grant funding from federal, state, and foundation sponsors. He works with multi- and interdisciplinary faculty teams pursing innovative research ideas at the frontiers of human scientific knowledge, bringing a tier-one research university to it’s highest levels of scholarship and investigation.


Portrait of Wei You.Wei You, Professor of Chemistry and Applied Physical Sciences
Wei You is a professor in the Department of Chemistry within the UNC College of Arts and Sciences. He received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Chicago in 2004. After two years of postdoctoral training at Stanford University, he joined Carolina’s chemistry department as an assistant professor in 2006, became full professor in 2017, and served as chair from 2020 to 2024. He has published over 200 papers in his 18 years of tenure at UNC-Chapel Hill and has served the research community in multiple ways.

Lindsey James is an assistant professor in the Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry within the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She is also the director of chemical biology within the Center for Integrative Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery, where she collaborates closely with Carolina faculty from various departments. She obtained a B.A. in chemistry from Colgate University and a PhD in organic chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill. She was a postdoctoral fellow in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy and joined the faculty at Carolina as a research assistant professor in 2013 and then as a tenure-track assistant professor in 2019.
