University Research Week Branding
University Research Week logo
The branding for University Research Week (URW) is a minimalistic wordmark. The thought behind it was to create something easy to read, fun and inviting, and a symbol so simplistic that it would be relatable for as many areas of research as possible. A magnifying glass is usually paired with the idea of finding or discovery, and this is what our students and faculty at Carolina are doing. Pursuing knowledge through the means of finding solutions and/or discovering and solving problems. Although we strive to highlight the amazing research at Carolina as much as possible, URW is a designated period where we want research to be the center of attention, as if it were magnified at 100%.

Please use the University Research Week logo on all forms of promotion for URW, this counts event posters, flyers, or programs. If you are unsure of how to properly do this, please reach out to Corina Prassos, graphic designer in the Office of Research Communications.

University Research Week Hashtag

Posts that are made in regards to URW should include the hashtag #UNCResearchWeek, making posts easy to find and to help promote the week.

Logo Colors

The logo for University Research Week has four color options: Carolina blue, black, white, and full color.

Color Restrictions

• Do not change the colors of the logo.
• Do not print the logo in black over a dark color and do not print the logo in white over a light color.
• Do not place the logo over a heavily patterned background.

Clear Space

To ensure legibility, always keep a minimum clear space around the logo. This space isolates the mark from any graphical elements that might conflict with, overpower, and lessen the impact of the logo. It also allows the identifier to breathe. The minimum clear space is defined by the height of the “e” in “Research.”
