Join us for a special roundtable discussion in honor of RENCI’s 20th Anniversary. This milestone event will highlight the organization’s growth and the ways that projects, technology, and applications have transformed over the years.

RENCI team members will discuss long-term efforts across research areas at the organization through engaging flash talks, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.

  • Ashok Krishnamurthy, Director of RENCI, will explore the evolution of data stewardship at RENCI, with a focus on the Data Commons project and its expansion into NIH-funded initiatives such as HEAL, BDC, and RADx.
  • Anirban Mandal, Interim Director of the Network Research and Infrastructure Group will delve into the impact of BEN and GENI, experimental networks that paved the way for our current large-scale network research initiatives, including FABRIC.
  • Chris Bizon, Director of the Data Science and Analytics Group, will showcase RENCI’s innovative work with knowledge graphs and machine learning, tracing the journey from the Translator project to FRINK.

A research institute of UNC-Chapel Hill since 2004, RENCI is a hub for innovation that fosters data science expertise, advances software development tools and techniques, develops effective cross-disciplinary and cross-sector engagement strategies, and establishes sustainable business models for software and services.
