Japanese History Lab Presentation

Why study Japanese history? This presentation by the members of the UNC Japanese History Lab will introduce some of our recent research projects and their relationship to academic debates, career paths, and contemporary social and political issues. Our topics include changing representations of the samurai, the role of ritual in political life, Japan’s cultural relationship with its East Asian neighbors, and controversies over weapon ownership (in 16th-century Japan!).
