SUMMARY:UNC CHER Spark Series
DESCRIPTION:The UNC Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) announces the 
 new “Spark Series” to ignite new ideas and connections for faculty hea
 lth researchers. Sessions will feature guest presenters and networking opp
 ortunities. The series is a chance for faculty researchers advancing equit
 y through their work to hear and learn from one another. Topics will inclu
 de health equity research concepts\, methodology\, principles\, impacts\, 
 and more. The series’ goal is to generate new thinking and innovation in
  the practice of research.\n\nCHER seeks to build a network of faculty who
  can improve health research\, collectively enhancing its quality and valu
 e by centering equity. Enriched by the diversity of different disciplines 
 and interests\, there will be common ground around the shared purpose of a
 dvancing health for all.\n\nTo launch the series\, Dr. Seth Berkowitz will
  discuss his new book\, Equal Care: Health Equity\, Social Democracy\, and
  the Egalitarian State. A general internist and primary care doctor\, Dr. 
 Berkowitz will present on how social conditions and mechanisms link injust
 ice to poor health and what policies may be effective at achieving better 
 systems to improve health for all. Then\, attendees will dive deeper into 
 the topic in smaller groups\, and have a chance to learn about one another
