DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe COVID pandemic has been a severe stress on all of us. W
 e will talk about the impact of pandemic stress on mental health\, and how
  current research at UNC is driving innovations in neuroscience that lead 
 to new treatments and better outcomes. This talk will also include take-aw
 ay pearls on how to better manage stress.\nThree different speakers will d
 iscuss stress and mental health:\nSamantha Meltzer-Brody\nMD\, MPH\, Assad
  Meymandi Distinguished Professor and Chair\, UNC Department of Psychiatry
 \, Director\, UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders\nDr. Meltzer-Brody w
 ill provide a high level overview of the impact of COVID on mental health 
 including anxiety and depression. She will also give an example of a novel
  new drug developed for depression (postpartum depression)\, where all pha
 ses of clinical trials were conducted at UNC.\n\nJose Rodriguez-Romaguera\
 nPhD\, Assistant Professor\, Co-Director\, Carolina Stress Initiative \nDr
 . Rodriguez-Romaguera will discuss the underlying neuroscience of stress u
 sing animal models to highlight how stress impacts the nervous system.\n\n
 Crystal Schiller\nPhD\, Assistant Professor\, Co-Director\, Perinatal Psyc
 hiatry Program\, Director\, Psychology internship Program\nDr. Schiller wi
 ll discuss how stress impacts the brain and multiple innovative treatment
