SUMMARY:Microscopy Image Analysis Workshop
DESCRIPTION:BARC is hosting a workshop for image analysis. We will dive int
 o the fundamentals of light microscopy image analysis using open-source an
 alysis software (e.g.\, ImageJ/Fiji). We will focus on concepts necessary 
 to assess image quality\, segment regions of interest\, and extract quanti
 tative features (e.g.\, intensity\, count\, size\, shape\, etc.). We will 
 also explore how Python can be used to develop custom analysis pipelines b
 ased on these same ideas.\n\nDuring the course\, attendees will get hands-
 on analysis experience using example fluorescence microscopy images collec
 ted on a confocal microscope. However\, the concepts covered will also be 
 applicable to images collected using other modalities.\n\nNo previous codi
 ng knowledge is necessary for this course. However\, a fundamental underst
 anding of Python or other coding languages will be helpful.\nPoints to not
 e:\n\nThere will be no charge to attend if you are selected.\nBreakfast/Lu
 nch/session breaks are included.\nWorkshop is only open to researchers wit
 h a current affiliation with UNC-CH.\nWorkshop is limited to 25 participan
 ts due to venue space constraints and to ensure that everyone gets adequat
 e attention/help from TA’s.\nWorkshop will be held at UNC Gaming Center 
 (room details to be given to those selected).\nYou should be willing/able 
 to attend for the entire duration of the workshop. Since the sessions buil
 d upon sequential learning\, it may be difficult for you to keep up (and f
 or us to help you) if you miss any part of the workshop.\n\nApplication pr
