DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research\, t
he Lunch & Learn series brings together Carolina researchers to share thei
r work addressing and mitigating the impact of climate change in North Car
olina. Each session will feature a distinct theme and panel of experts pre
senting their latest research in that area.\n\n\n	Monday\, October 23: Flo

 Change\nThursday October 26th\nPresented by: Carolina Population Center\n\
 n\nNathan Dollar\, Director\, Carolina Demography\n\nNathan Dollar has dec
ades of experience in research and program implementation across North Car
olina and abroad. Most recently he served as a research scientist and proj
ect director for the Dynamics of Extreme Events\, People\, and Places (DEE
PP) survey at the Carolina Population Center. There\, he worked with an in
terdisciplinary team of researchers investigating the factors that shape h
ow people and communities in eastern North Carolina prepare for\, are affe
cted by\, and recover from extreme weather events. Since 2014\, he has ser

NC Office of Rural Health. Through these experiences\, he has gained a de

/land-use change and climate change influence ecosystem functions and huma
n livelihoods. He publishes in a wide variety of journals on topics includ
ing remote sensing\, water resources research\, landscape ecology\, popula
tion and environment\, land use policy\, and ecological economics among ot
hers. He served as a PI for multiple projects funded by the National Scien
ce Foundation\, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration\, and US
DA Forest Service. He teaches courses on remote sensing\, modeling of the
environmental system\, forestry\, and Geographic Information Systems. \n\n
