SUMMARY:Introduction to PubMed
DESCRIPTION:This class will cover the basics of literature searching utiliz
ing the new PubMed interface. This class is intended for students\, facult
y\, or staff unfamiliar with PubMed’s redesigned interface or those new
to literature searching. Participants will learn to navigate the database\
, conduct basic literature searches\, and strategies for improving searche
s.\n\nPubMed is a free resource supporting the search and retrieval of bio
medical and life sciences literature with the aim of improving health–bo
th globally and personally.\n\nThe PubMed database contains more than 37 m
illion citations and abstracts of biomedical literature. It does not inclu
de full text journal articles\; however\, links to the full text are often
present when available from other sources\, such as the publisher's websi
te or PubMed Central (PMC).\n\nAvailable to the public online since 1996\,
PubMed was developed and is maintained by the National Center for Biotech
nology Information (NCBI)\, at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM)
\, located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).\n
