SUMMARY:Turning Evidence into Action for Healthy Communities
DESCRIPTION:Scientific discovery alone is not enough to improve health and
 well-being. Meaningful impact occurs when evidence-based interventions\, p
rograms\, policies\, and practices are effectively disseminated to and imp
lemented by the people and organizations that are positioned to bring them
to life in communities. This session will explore ""what's next?"" for he
alth promotion and disease prevention research by showcasing innovative st
rategies for translating evidence into action across clinical\, community\
, educational\, and public health settings.\n\nResearch leaders from the U
NC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP) and affiliate
d programs will share brief presentations illustrating how they are extend
ing the impact of their work and the findings of others beyond traditional
research environments. Topics will include scaling evidence-based interve
ntions\, disseminating effective policies and practices\, leveraging commu
nity and institutional partnerships\, training the next generation of heal
th educators and health professionals\, and advancing implementation strat
egies that promote population health and well-being. Featured examples wil
l span chronic disease prevention\, nutrition and culinary education\, ear
ly childhood health promotion\, and cancer prevention.\n\nThrough a series
of presentations and discussion\, speakers will reflect on the opportunit
ies\, challenges\, and lessons learned in moving research into diverse rea
l-world settings. The session will highlight multiple pathways for amplify
ing evidence-based interventions through partnership\, practice\, and poli
cy while fostering connections among researchers\, practitioners\, and com
munity members interested in extending the reach and sustainability of hea
lth promotion efforts.\n\nAttendees will gain insight into how Carolina re
searchers are transforming discoveries into meaningful action and will be
invited to consider how collaboration can accelerate the translation of ev
idence into healthier communities. This session will showcase the people\,
partnerships\, and implementation strategies helping ensure that research
makes a lasting difference where it matters most.\n\nThis is a virtual ev
 ent.
