SUMMARY:Crossing Borders: Journalism\, Human Rights and the Law
DESCRIPTION:Now in its second year\, this newly created class has an intern
 ational spring break trip to the U.S-Mexico border and will be offered thi
 s spring through the Hussman School\, in collaboration with UNC’s Instit
 ute for the Study of the Americas. \n\nCrossing Borders: Journalism\, Huma
 n Rights\, and the Law is taught by professor Erin Siegal McIntyre with an
  impressive variety of guest lecturers. This skills class\, capped at 12 p
 articipants\, examines the intersections of human rights\, journalism\, an
 d the law\, while focusing on best practices for cross-cultural foreign re
 porting and trauma-informed coverage. Spanish is not required\; Spanglish 
 is encouraged. Students must have passports.\n\nCome hear from Professor M
 ack and students from the 2025 Crossing Borders cohort\, and learn about t
 he experience!\n\nThis is a hybrid event.
